Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know about how Lovon works, how we keep you safe, and what Lovon can and can't help with.

What Lovon is & how it works

What is Lovon?

Lovon is an AI-powered therapy app that lets you talk by voice—just like with a real person—to calm your mind, process difficult thoughts and emotions, and get compassionate support anytime. It's built with input from PhD psychologists and mental health professionals to provide evidence-informed emotional support, not generic chit-chat.

How does Lovon actually work?

You open the app, start a voice call, and simply talk. Lovon listens, reflects back what it hears, and offers guidance, coping tools, and gentle questions to help you understand what you're feeling and what you can do next. Over time, it learns your preferences and patterns so sessions feel more and more personal—your AI therapist adapts to your communication style, topics, and goals instead of giving one-size-fits-all answers.

How do you keep my data safe?

We take privacy and security very seriously. Your conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, and stored on secure, industry-standard infrastructure. We do **not** use your personal conversations to train public AI models. Access to any identifiable data is strictly limited to what's necessary to operate and improve Lovon, and only to a small number of authorized team members under confidentiality obligations. You're always in control and can request deletion of your account and personal data in line with our policies.

What kinds of issues can Lovon help with?

Lovon can support you with everyday mental health struggles such as stress, anxiety, overthinking, low mood, self-doubt, relationship problems, loneliness, burnout, and big life decisions. It's designed for emotional support and self-reflection, not for crisis care or medical emergencies.

Is Lovon a replacement for a human therapist or psychiatrist?

No. Lovon is not a licensed clinician and does not replace human therapy, medical treatment, or professional diagnosis. Think of Lovon as an always-available companion that can help you cope, reflect, and build healthier habits between or alongside sessions with a human professional.

Who is Lovon for?

Lovon is for people 13+ who want a safe space to talk about their feelings, reduce stress and anxiety, work on self-esteem, or improve relationships. It can be helpful if you're completely new to therapy or if you already see a therapist and want extra support between sessions.

Can Lovon diagnose me with a mental health disorder?

No. Lovon cannot provide a clinical diagnosis or label. It can help you notice patterns, triggers, and behaviors, and nudge you toward healthier coping strategies—but only a licensed professional can diagnose or prescribe treatment.

Can Lovon prescribe medication or tell me to change my meds?

No. Lovon cannot prescribe, adjust, or stop any medication. Any questions about medication should always be discussed with a doctor or psychiatrist.

Can Lovon help in a crisis or emergency?

Lovon is **not** suitable for emergencies or situations where you might hurt yourself or someone else. In a crisis, you should immediately contact local emergency services, a crisis hotline, or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in immediate danger, do not wait for an AI or app—seek human help right away.

Lovon cannot provide crisis support, emergency help, diagnoses, or medication advice.

If you're in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, please contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline right away.
