What this means

At this range all three parts are running. You carry most of what keeps a shared life going, you have largely stopped waiting for your partner to take things on, and there is a substantial unpaid bill in your head.

The honest framing is that this is a two-person arrangement in a bad equilibrium, not a personal failing on either side. Overfunctioning and underfunctioning are the same dynamic seen from two chairs. One person expands into every gap; the other contracts out of space that is no longer there. Neither role feels chosen. Yours probably feels like the only thing preventing collapse.

A few specific things tend to be true at this level. The competence gap is real — your partner genuinely is worse at things you have done exclusively for years, which makes handing them over look irresponsible rather than corrective. Asking has been replaced by doing, because asking took longer and produced worse results. And the resentment has begun to leak sideways, into tone and timing and small remarks, rather than being said directly. Leaked resentment is the least useful form: it lands as criticism without ever presenting the account underneath it.

It is also common to be tired in a way that rest does not touch. Vigilance is what tires people, not tasks. Holding a live map of everything that has to happen, plus everyone's state, is a background process that never closes.

One thing to be careful about. There is a difference between an unbalanced arrangement two people built together and a relationship where one person is refusing to participate, or where the load is not negotiable. The first responds to renegotiation. The second does not, and handing things over will not change it.

What to do next

Stop solving this alone. The work at this level is a negotiation rather than a self-improvement project, and it needs the other person in the room. Name the pattern once, without the case file: this is how our load is split, this is what it is doing to me, this has to change.

Then reduce in one area and hold. Not everywhere at once — pick a single domain, step out of it, and let the discomfort of the gap belong to both of you instead of absorbing it again on day three.

Expect a rough patch. Systems at equilibrium resist being moved, and the first weeks of doing less usually look like proof that you should not have.

Couples counselling is a reasonable step here rather than an extreme one. If you want somewhere to work out what you are actually asking for before that conversation, Lovon is there for it.

Your result is a starting point: the conversation with Lovon AI Therapist is where it gets specific.

It is twelve statements written by Lovon around the construct described above, grouped into three parts of four. It is not a published or original instrument and does not reproduce one.

There are no clinical norms behind the five bands. They are ranges for reading your own answers back, not percentiles against a population, and the difference between a 26 and a 28 is not meaningful in the way a rank would be. Nothing here is a diagnosis, and no online questionnaire can be one.

It also scores one side of a two-person system. You are answering about your own behaviour, which is the only side you have access to and the only side you can change. The score cannot tell you how much of the imbalance the arrangement produced and how much your partner brought to it.
