Truth or dare works for couples for the same reason it works at a sleepover: it gives you permission to ask things you would not ask out of nowhere. The difference with a partner is that the answers matter more, so the cards here are sorted by how far you want to go.

1

Three sets

Sweet is for date night and first rounds: what you thought of each other at the start, the song that reminds you of them, a compliment you have never said out loud. Deep is for when you want the conversation to go somewhere: when you feel most loved, a fear about the two of you, what you need more of right now. Long distance is written so every card works over video or text, from a tour of the room you are in to picking the date of your next visit.

2

How to play it well

Take turns, and let the person answering finish without interrupting. A truth only works if the answer is safe to give, so react to honesty with curiosity, not a debate. It is fine to pass on a card; it is not fine to make the other person pay for an answer later.

There are no sexual dares here on purpose. Most people searching for this play it at a dinner table, on a call, or with friends nearby, and the deeper cards tend to bring two people closer than a spicy one does.

When a card opens something up

Frequently Asked Questions

What are good truth or dare questions for couples?

Good ones are specific and safe to answer: what did you think of me the first time we met, when do you feel most loved by me, what is one thing you want us to try this year. The Deep set here is built for that, and the Sweet set keeps it light.

Can we play truth or dare long distance?

Yes. The Long distance set is written so every truth and dare works over a video call or by text, like a tour of the room you are in, a voice note, or picking the date of your next visit.

Are there spicy dares?

No. The cards are meant for any setting, including a video call or a table with friends nearby. If you want to go deeper, the Deep set tends to bring couples closer than a risque dare would.

How many cards are there?

Forty-eight: sixteen in each of the three sets, eight truths and eight dares per set. Draw them one at a time above, or read the full list below the game.
