What this means

You landed just above the steadiest band, which usually means two of the three sides are in good condition and one has started to run thin. This is the most common place to be and the easiest to talk yourself out of noticing, because nothing is wrong in a way you could point at.

Which side is softening changes the meaning entirely, so it is worth going back through the questions in groups of four. One to four were intimacy, five to eight passion, nine to twelve commitment.

If intimacy is the low one, the usual shape is a couple who still want each other and still assume a shared future, but who have stopped saying much beyond scheduling. It tends to arrive during a busy period and stay after the busy period ends.

If passion is the low one, you are in the version people worry about most and misread most often. Closeness and commitment are intact and the pull has flattened. That is common, it is frequently temporary, and it responds better to attention than to alarm.

If commitment is the low one, the relationship can feel warm and alive while one or both of you is quietly unresolved about where it goes. This version stays unspoken the longest, because the day to day is pleasant enough not to force the question.

None of these means the relationship is in trouble. It means one specific thing is carrying less than it used to, and the useful response is specific rather than general.

What to do next

Name the side before doing anything else. General effort applied to the wrong component is the reason so much relationship advice changes nothing.

For thin intimacy, add a repeating window with no agenda, such as a walk, a drive, or a meal without phones, and use it to say something you would not normally bother to say. The content matters less than the fact that it is not admin.

For thin passion, change the conditions rather than trying to summon a feeling. Novelty, sleep, real time apart rather than parallel screen time, and a plain conversation about what has actually changed physically usually move it further than a planned romantic evening.

For thin commitment, say the uncomfortable sentence. Something close to: I am not sure where this is going and I would like us to talk about it. That conversation is unpleasant for an hour and clarifying for a year.

Pick the one side and give it a month. If the part that stalls is the wording, which is to say how to open it without it turning into a fight, Lovon can help you get that ready first.

The twelve statements are written by Lovon around the three-component structure described above. This is not the original Triangular Love Scale and it does not reproduce it. The original is a specific research instrument with its own items and its own scoring, and we are not reprinting it under another name.

There are no clinical norms behind these bands. They are ranges for reading your own answers back, not percentiles against a population, and there is no published cutoff separating relationships that last from ones that do not. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or advice about whether to stay.

It is also one side of a two-person situation. Your answers describe your experience of the relationship. Your partner's answers might put the thin side somewhere else entirely, and the place where the two accounts disagree is usually the most useful thing either of you will find.

If any part of this involves fear of your partner, being controlled, or being unsafe, that is a different situation from a thin relationship and it deserves proper support rather than a quiz result.
