What this means
You land in the second band, which usually means the machinery works and one part of it lags. Most people here can find their feelings and say them, but not always at the moment when saying them would have been easy, and not always to everyone.
The common shape is a delay rather than a block. Something registers, the moment does not seem right, and the feeling gets carried. Sometimes it comes out later in the wrong register: flatter than it deserved, or attached to a smaller thing that happened afterwards. From the outside this reads as a partner who is fine and then suddenly is not. From the inside it does not feel like withholding at all. It feels like not making a fuss.
The other shape in this range is selective availability. Open with one person, closed with another, and the closed one is often the primary relationship. Not because it matters less, but because it has more to lose, so the risk of being open there is larger.
Worth noticing which facet your weaker answers clustered in. Access is knowing what you feel at the time. Expression is saying it close to when it happens. Response is what you do when the feeling is not yours. In this band it is usually one of the three dragging, and which one changes the next step entirely.
One more thing that fits this range: availability moves with conditions. Sleep debt, a hard quarter at work, grief, illness and the first months with a baby all pull the number up. If your last month was unusual, the score is describing the month rather than you.
What to do next
Shorten the gap rather than raising the stakes. One small true thing on the day it happens does more than a scheduled serious conversation. That landed badly. I am more tired than I said. I have been quiet because of something at work.
If the lag is in access, name before you explain. A single word such as hurt, uneasy, flat or embarrassed is more usable to the other person than a paragraph of reasons, and reasons have a way of turning into a defence.
If it is in response, add one sentence before helping: ask whether they want ideas or want you to listen. Most of the distance created by fixing closes right there.
If it is in expression, watch the moment you decide something is not worth mentioning. That decision is where most of the score comes from.
Pick one facet and give it two weeks of small attempts rather than trying to change all three. Lovon is a place to work out the wording first when the sentence is the part that gets stuck.
