What this means

Your answers sit near the top of the scale, which means rejection is being expected, read into ambiguity, and acted on almost continuously. That is a heavy way to move through relationships, and it deserves to be taken seriously rather than reframed as just being sensitive.

At this level the three parts have usually fused. There is no longer a noticeable gap between an ambiguous signal and the conclusion — the short reply simply means the thing, immediately, with the force of perception rather than interpretation. And because the conclusion arrives as a fact, the protective response follows without a decision being made: the message sent, or the door closed, before you had a chance to weigh it.

The loop is well established here, which means it manufactures its own evidence. Withdrawing produces distance, pressing produces strain, and both get filed as proof of the original forecast. From the inside this is extremely convincing. It is worth knowing that it is a known pattern with a known shape, not an accurate readout of how people feel about you.

One more thing the score cannot see: the exhaustion. Running this much assessment all the time takes real energy, and many people at this end have quietly started avoiding closeness because the monitoring costs more than the connection returns. From the outside that avoidance reads as not needing anyone. It is usually the opposite.

Sensitivity at this intensity also overlaps with things that respond to different treatment — persistent low mood, anxiety, and patterns that began much earlier in life. Those distinctions are not ones a self-test can make.

What to do next

The honest recommendation at this score is to involve another person rather than working through it alone. A therapist can go at where the alarm learned its settings, which is the part self-help reaches least well, and this pattern is one that structured work tends to help.

While that is being arranged, keep the goal small and behavioural. One rule: nothing decided or sent in the first hour after you feel dropped. Not silence, not a follow-up. Only the delay.

Then, when you can manage it, ask one direct question instead of running an interpretation. It breaks a single instance of the loop even when it does nothing to the pattern, and single instances are what the pattern is made of.

Do not read this score as a verdict on how likeable you are. It describes an alarm that learned its settings somewhere, and settings can be changed. Lovon is there to talk to whenever it gets loud, including at three in the morning, as support alongside that work rather than in place of it.

The twelve statements are written by Lovon around the construct described above. This is not the original rejection sensitivity questionnaire used in research and it does not reproduce it.

There are no clinical norms behind the five bands. They are ranges for reading your own answers back to yourself, not percentiles against a population, and crossing from one band into the next is not a meaningful event. Nothing here is a diagnosis, and no online test can be one.

Scores also move with circumstances. Take this in the month after a breakup and it will read higher than it would have a year earlier. That is the situation, not your character.
