What this means

Your answers sit at the far end of all three parts. Requests get engineered rather than made, attention goes where it is likely to return something, and other people's motives are assumed before they are demonstrated.

Before treating that as a verdict, two things are worth saying plainly.

The first is that a low light triad score is not a dark triad score. Those are separate measurements, not two ends of one ruler, and people land in strange corners of the grid. Someone can be guarded and calculating and still refuse absolutely to use another person. If what you want to know is whether you manipulate, feel entitled, or go cold during conflict, that is a different set of questions and this test does not ask them.

The second is that this stance is usually correct somewhere. Environments exist where generosity gets invoiced, where a straightforward request is used against you later, and where people really are sorting the room by usefulness. Anyone who grew up in one, or spent years in one, would arrive here. The strategy is not irrational. It is a strategy that outlived its conditions.

What it costs

It costs you the ability to tell people apart. When everyone is handled as a potential transaction, everyone behaves like one, and the evidence that comes back is unusable. You cannot know who would have stayed, because nobody was given the opening.

It also runs constantly, which is expensive. Reading motives, managing conversations and maintaining a record of what people are capable of takes attention that never gets to rest. People at this end often describe relationships as tiring without being able to say why.

And it shows, though not as anything nameable. It shows as other people staying on the surface with you and slowly bringing you less.

What to do next

Pick one relationship and stop keeping accounts in it for a fixed period. One month, one person, no tally of who did what for whom. Treat it as a controlled experiment rather than a personality change. The useful part is noticing how strong the pull to resume the tally gets.

Practise one request with no construction around it. No timing, no framing, no groundwork laid the day before. Say the thing in a sentence. A no is an acceptable outcome and is still information.

Then look at where this was learned. If the answer is a family or a relationship where it was the correct response, that is worth working through with a therapist rather than concluding you are simply built this way. People move on this scale, and usually something in their conditions moved first.

Lovon is there to talk it through, including the parts that would sound bad said out loud to someone who knows you.

The twelve items here are written by Lovon around the three part structure described above. This is not the Light Triad Scale and it does not reproduce that instrument or any other copyrighted one.

There are no clinical norms behind the bands. They are ranges for reading your own answers back to yourself, not percentiles against a population, and a total of 28 does not mean anything more precise than a total of 26. Nothing here is a diagnosis, and no online test can tell you whether you are a good person.

If the guardedness this picked up dates to something specific that still intrudes on you, or arrived alongside weeks of low mood, that is worth a conversation with a therapist or a doctor rather than a self help plan.
