What this means

Your answers put you at the low end of sensitivity. In plain terms, it takes a lot of input before your system starts to strain. A crowded bar, a weekend with three plans, a day of back-to-back calls: you tend to come out of them with energy left. You make decisions without running every scenario, and small changes in a room or in someone's face mostly pass without registering.

That is not a lack of depth or care. It is a higher threshold, and it has real advantages. You are often the person who can host the family holiday, keep a child's birthday party moving, and still want to go out afterwards. You recover quickly from disruption, and you rarely need the setting to be just right before you can function.

Where it can catch you out

The blind spot at this end is other people's thresholds. If your partner, a close friend or a housemate sits much higher on this scale, the same evening can cost them several times what it costs you. From where you stand, their need to leave early or go quiet in the car can look like a mood about you. Usually it is not. They took in more of the night than you did and they have run out of room.

A second catch is unspoken cues. People who score low here tend to find out someone is upset when that person says so. A partner who has been hinting for a week that something is off may feel unseen, even though you would have responded at once if they had said it outright. That gap is not a failure of caring. It is a difference in what gets picked up without words.

What to do next

Replace guessing with a question. You are unlikely to catch a shift in tone reliably, so build the habit of checking in directly: how was that for you, do you want to stay longer, is something on your mind. It costs almost nothing and it closes most of the gap.

If your partner scores much higher, agree on a signal for leaving or winding down that neither of you has to justify in the moment. Treat their recovery time as logistics, not as feedback on the relationship.

Look at the three parts. Even inside a low total, one may sit higher than the others, and that is where you and a more sensitive partner will understand each other most easily.

If you want to think through a specific friction before raising it, Lovon can help you find the words. On this result it is a tool for one conversation, not something you need every day.

The twelve items on this test are written by Lovon around the three-part structure described above. This is not the Highly Sensitive Person Scale, and it does not reproduce that scale or any other copyrighted instrument.

There are no clinical norms behind the bands. They are ranges for reading your own answers back, not percentiles against a population, and nothing here is a diagnosis. High sensitivity is a temperament trait, not a condition.

Feeling overwhelmed most of the time can also come from anxiety, depression or burnout. If that has lasted for weeks alongside poor sleep, constant worry or low mood, it is worth a conversation with a doctor.
