What this means

Your answers sit in the low range, which on this scale means the three habits it scores are not the ones running your relationship. You tend to say the thing at the time, you ask in words rather than in hints, and you are not handing your partner a list of what a real man is supposed to be.

Two things are worth checking before you file that away.

The first is where the directness came from. This test cannot tell the difference between a person who learned to speak plainly and a person who happens to be with someone who makes speaking plainly cheap. Those look identical from the inside and behave very differently under pressure. The useful memory is the last time you said no to something your partner clearly wanted. If that went fine, the habit is probably yours. If you cannot remember the last time it happened, the low score may be describing the relationship more than it describes you.

The second is that a low total can hide one facet sitting higher than the rest. Someone can be completely direct about what they want and still hold a private rulebook about how a man should handle money, or be scrupulously fair about roles and still go quiet for two days after a fight. Reread the questions you answered furthest in the unhealthy direction and see whether they cluster.

The thing this score does not measure

A low number does not mean the load in your house is fair. You can ask for help clearly, get it half the time, and still be doing most of the planning, the remembering and the emotional repair. That is a different problem with a different fix, and it is not resentment from silence. It is arithmetic. Worth separating the two before you conclude nothing needs attention.

What to do next

Protect directness under load, because that is the first thing to go. Most people who hint do it when they are tired, outnumbered by someone else's family, or in a week where asking for one more thing feels like too much. The habit holds when you have a lower bar for what counts as worth mentioning, not when you have more willpower.

Keep the second reverse habit too: letting yourself be looked after without immediately balancing the books. That one erodes quietly and takes the rest with it.

The twelve items here are written by Lovon around the three behaviours described above. There is no validated toxic femininity scale, and this is not one. Researchers do study conformity to gender role norms using published instruments, and nothing here reproduces those or any other copyrighted measure.

There are no clinical norms behind the bands. They are ranges for reading your own answers back to yourself, not percentiles against a population, and nothing here is a diagnosis or a judgement about women.

If the exhaustion behind a high score has come with weeks of low mood, or with a partner who frightens you, those are different problems than a communication habit and they are worth raising with a doctor or a therapist.
