Frequently asked questions
Answers to some of the most common questions about how Lovon works and what it can (and can't) do.
What is the best AI therapist app?
There is no single answer, because these apps differ on things only you can weigh. Decide whether you want to talk out loud or type, whether the app works from a real method or just agrees with you, what it does with your session data, and how it behaves when you are in a bad state at night. Lovon is the voice option, built with PhD psychologists on CBT and emotion-focused therapy. You say what is going on out loud and it asks the next question.
Is a voice AI app better than a text one?
Not better, different. For many people, speaking gets past the editing that typing invites, and what comes out is closer to what is actually going on. Others find typing easier to start with, and it works in places where you cannot talk out loud. The one you will open at the moment you need it is the right one.
Can an AI therapist app replace a real therapist?
No. These apps do not diagnose, do not prescribe, and are not licensed or accountable the way a clinician is. If a problem is affecting your sleep, work, or relationships, see a professional. The Psychology Today directory and Open Path Collective are good places to look, and FindTreatment.gov lists mental health and substance use services.
How do I know if an AI app is handling my data properly?
Read the privacy policy, not the landing page, and look for three specifics: whether session content is encrypted, whether it is shared with advertisers or data brokers, and whether it is used to train models. Also check that you can delete your history and see what happens to it after you cancel. If those answers are hard to find, treat that as the answer.
What should an AI app do if I tell it I want to hurt myself?
It should stop acting like a general conversation partner, tell you plainly that this is past what it can help with, and point you to a person. In the US that is the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, by call or text, any hour. The SAMHSA National Helpline is a different service, for finding treatment later rather than for the moment itself. An app that keeps chatting and never mentions crisis support is not one to rely on.
