What this means

This result is about time rather than company. Who you are holds steady from room to room, but not from season to season. Every few months something gets rebuilt: the goal you were certain about, the style, the friend group, the plan for the next five years. Each version feels completely true while it lasts. This result comes from the second group of questions, the ones about the past year, while the questions about company stayed low for you. If the ones about deciding and describing yourself also sounded familiar, deciding by committee is worth reading too.

Change is not the problem. People are supposed to change. What marks this pattern is the missing continuity: the new version does not grow out of the old one, it replaces it, and you cannot always say what carried across. A year later the previous self reads like a stranger's diary.

The trigger is usually outside you. A new relationship arrives with a whole way of living attached, and you take it on. A breakup ends it, and you rebuild from scratch, sometimes in the opposite direction. A job with a strong culture does the same thing more slowly. In between, enthusiasms flare and burn out, which can look like a lack of discipline and is closer to a search for something that will stay.

The cost is mostly invisible to others. Projects stay half finished because the person who started them is not quite the person who would finish them. Big decisions feel risky, because who knows whether you will still want this in March. And there is a particular tiredness in auditioning for your own life every season.

What to do next

Look for the threads rather than the pieces. Take your last three or four versions and list what all of them had in common: the kind of friend you were, the time of day you came alive, what you were always secretly reading about. Those threads are the self that persisted, and they are usually more definite than the person feels.

Slow down identity-sized moves. When a new direction feels certain, give it a waiting period before you rebuild around it. Keep the old friends while you try the new scene, and test the new plan before you announce it.

Keep a short monthly note of what you did and what you would do again. It turns a blur of seasons into a record you can read.

If you want to think a change through before you commit to it, Lovon is there for that.

From the wiki

The items on this test are written by Lovon around the three parts described above. It is not the Self-Concept Clarity Scale, it does not reproduce that scale's items or scoring, and results here cannot be compared with published scores for it.

There are no clinical norms behind the results. The cut-off for each part is a point for reading your own answers back, not a percentile against a population, and nothing here is a diagnosis.

If not knowing who you are sits alongside a low or empty mood that has lasted for weeks, that combination is worth a conversation with a doctor or a therapist.
