What this means

Your answers ran highest on honesty when it costs. You mostly follow through and keep confidences, but when the truth is awkward you tend to bend it. An invented plan to get out of something. A detail left out so someone believes something that is not quite true. A friend's question about their work or their relationship answered with what they wanted to hear.

Most people who land here would not call themselves liars, and in the ordinary sense they are right. These are small, social, kindly meant untruths. They keep evenings smooth and spare feelings. The problem is not that any single one is serious. It is what they add up to.

What small lies cost

The first cost is to your praise. If you tell everyone their idea is great, your "this is great" stops carrying information, and the people who most need an honest read stop asking you for one. They can tell, even if they could not say how.

The second is to the people who find one out. Discovering a small lie rarely hurts because of what was hidden. It hurts because it shows that you will shade the truth when it suits you, and the other person starts wondering which of your other answers were shaded too.

The third is to you. Each untruth has to be remembered, and leaving a detail out today often means leaving it out again next week. The effort is small, but it never quite stops.

This is a different question from trust issues, which are about how much you trust others. The trust issues quiz measures that. This result is about how much others can trust what you say.

What to do next

You do not need to become blunt. Honesty and kindness only conflict when the choice is framed as a harsh truth against a kind lie. There is almost always a third option: a true thing said kindly. Instead of "I loved it", try "the opening really worked for me, and I got a bit lost in the middle." Instead of an invented plan, "I am going to sit this one out, I need a quiet night."

Pick one kind of small lie you tell often, the made-up excuse, the inflated compliment or the left-out detail, and replace it for a month with the plainest true version you can manage.

If there is a bigger thing you have left out with someone close to you, the conversation to correct it will be uncomfortable, and almost always smaller than the cost of them finding out on their own. Lovon is there if you want to work out how to say it before you do.

From the wiki

The items on this test are written by Lovon around the three parts described above. It is not a validated integrity or personality instrument, and it does not reproduce any published questionnaire.

There are no norms behind the results. They describe which part of trustworthiness your answers point to, not where you rank against other people, and nothing here is a diagnosis or a judgment of your character.

If you want a truer read, ask someone who relies on you which of the three parts they would pick.
